The Children’s Education Initiative Awards Shady Hill School a $1.8 Million Multi-Year Grant to Support Financial Aid
Cambridge, MA – Head of School Mark Stanek announced today that Shady Hill School (SHS) has received a $1.8 million grant from The Children’s Education Initiative (TCEI). Located in Southern California, TCEI is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for socioeconomically disadvantaged students. This generous grant will help make a SHS education accessible to a greater number of families.
The grant will cover the full tuition and ancillary needs, such as bus transportation, music lessons and an afterschool program, for two SHS kindergarteners beginning in the fall of 2025 through eighth grade.
To be selected for the highly competitive TCEI grant, schools must demonstrate their commitment to fostering a more equitable and inclusive community. The socioeconomic diversity of the student body is integral to SHS’s culture and values. Over the past three years, SHS has increased the average financial aid award for tuition, allowing students who might not have otherwise been able to afford it to attend SHS. “We are excited about this partnership as the qualities that TCEI looks for in partner schools are synonymous with the ones SHS espouses: a strong curriculum, commitment to financial aid and a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging,” said Head of School Mark Stanek.
